![]() ![]() ![]() John had a generous heart and loving spirit and was a benefactor to friends and strangers alike. John was an avid reader, loved learning and was well versed in a wide variety of subjects. His native plant and woody ornamental garden in Griffin was cultivated around his home and was toured and enjoyed by many. He was also a talented woodworker and mason. Many know that he collected arrowheads, Native American artifacts and folk art. John’s interests and hobbies were his passion. Two of the major projects that he was involved in were the construction of the Griffin Courthouse and the development of several Home Depot Expo stores. Later, he relocated to Griffin to be closer to his family and continued his working career in construction. In the late 1960s, John returned to Cairo, Georgia, to work for Faulk Chevrolet, the family automobile dealership. ![]() He also attended Valdosta State College before heading to Atlanta, where he worked for Lockheed Corporation. John grew up in Cairo, Georgia, and attended Cairo High School and Gordon Military College, from which he graduated in 1960. John was born in Panama City, Florida, on December 20, 1941, and was the eldest of the five children of the late John “Johnny” Hughey Faulk, Jr. John Hughey Faulk, III, known by all for his generous heart and loving spirit, passed away unexpectedly in Griffin, Georgia, on Friday evening, January 17, 2014. ![]()
